HyperFrames

Nascent · Emerged 2026-04-16 · 4 days old

HyperFrames is an open-source video rendering framework from HeyGen that lets AI agents compose videos by writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, then outputs MP4, MOV, or WebM via Puppeteer + FFmpeg. The CLI is non-interactive by default and installs as an agent skill.

"Write HTML. Render video. Built for agents." HeyGen open-sourced the repo under Apache 2.0 and shipped v0.4.0 on April 16, 2026, alongside a launch video built entirely in Claude Code using HyperFrames itself. The project crossed 6,300 GitHub stars within four days, and an ecosystem of student kits, OpenClaw skills, and the agno-agi vibe-video agent spawned inside the same week.

💡

HeyGen's team built their own launch announcement video in Claude Code using HyperFrames — no timeline editor, no After Effects. The agent wrote HTML with GSAP animations, HyperFrames captured frames in headless Chrome, and FFmpeg encoded the final MP4. The hyperframes-launch-video repo publishes the full source.

Think of it as React for video: the agent writes markup, the renderer turns it into frames.

Why is it emerging now?

TL;DR

HeyGen open-sourced HyperFrames on April 16, 2026 — the first video framework explicitly designed for LLM agents, built on the insight that binary timeline editors are unreachable to agents while HTML is their native language. 6,300 stars and a full ecosystem landed within 72 hours.

Outlook

6-month signal projection and commercial timeline.

Signal high
Revenue moderate

First credible agent-native video renderer shipped by the category leader; no direct competitor yet, ecosystem already spawning.

Risk · Remotion or a cloud incumbent could ship an agent-skill wrapper and absorb the category before HyperFrames cements the brand.
