EarlyTerms is run by a single operator. We try to collect the minimum amount of data needed to run the site and to reach out to you when the newsletter or paid tier ships. This page is the complete list — if something shows up later, we'll amend it and bump the date above.
What we collect
1. Email signups
When you submit an email to our newsletter waitlist or paid-tier waitlist, we store — in Cloudflare D1 (SQLite) — the following:
- Your email address.
- A timestamp.
- Your browser's
User-Agentstring. - The referrer URL, if your browser sends one.
- Your IP address (used for abuse rate-limiting; not used for profiling).
- Your country, as Cloudflare auto-attaches it to the request.
- UTM parameters (
utm_source/utm_medium/utm_campaign/utm_content) if you arrived from a tagged link. - The page path, which waitlist you joined (newsletter vs paid), and the stable CTA surface that triggered it.
2. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 on earlyterms.com
and app.earlyterms.com to count page views and
aggregate CTA, signup, checkout, and purchase events. GA sets cookies
and records your truncated IP (we enable
anonymize_ip). We do not send your email,
name, account ID, or Stripe customer ID to GA. You can block it with
any standard ad/tracking blocker; nothing on the site depends on it.
3. Server / CDN logs
Our hosting (Cloudflare Pages) and the edge Workers (app, domain-check, autocomplete, gtrends proxy, signup collector) keep short-lived logs with IP, URL, status code, user-agent. These rotate automatically per Cloudflare's defaults; we don't export or mine them.
What we don't collect
- No tracking pixels on outbound emails.
- No selling or sharing of your email with third parties.
- No chat, no comments, no social integrations beyond standard link-outs.
How we use the data
- To email you once when the newsletter / paid tier launches (the exact thing you signed up for).
- To rate-limit abuse on the signup endpoint (1 submit per IP per endpoint every 10 seconds).
- To count aggregate stats — e.g. "how many people joined the paid waitlist this week" — never individual-level profiling.
Third parties in the loop
- Cloudflare — Pages (site hosting), Workers (signup + domain-check + autocomplete + gtrends proxy), D1 (the signup database). Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to their role as data processor.
- Google — Analytics 4 (aggregate site and funnel events), Google Trends (anonymous term popularity lookups we make server-side, not tied to your session).
- Stripe — payment checkout, subscription, and billing management for EarlyTerms Pro. Card details go directly to Stripe and are not stored by EarlyTerms.
Your rights
Email hi@earlyterms.com and we'll:
- Remove your email from the waitlist (hard delete from D1).
- Export any data we have that's tied to your address.
- Answer any question about what we're doing with your data.
If you're in the EU / UK / California, the same applies — the rights to access, correct, delete, and port your data are honored on request.
Retention
Email signups: retained until you ask us to delete them, or until we shut the project down (in which case we'll delete the DB). Analytics: GA's defaults (currently 14 months). Server logs: Cloudflare defaults (days to weeks).
Changes
If we change how data is collected or used, we'll update this page and bump the date at the top. Material changes (new third party, broader data use) we'll also email to everyone on the list before taking effect.
